(Excerpts from the 50th Year reunion booklet)
Welcome 1961 Minneapolis CHS Classmates!
In 1961 when we graduated
From Central High School
Any thought of 2011
Was far, far away
In a distant
galaxy!
We have much to celebrate, lots to catch up on and times to reminisce about during this 50th Reunion Weekend, August 5, 6, & 7 in 2011! It’s time to celebrate the past, the journey we’ve each made these 50 years and rejoice in the fact that we are here to welcome each other!
Thank you to everyone who came this weekend to celebrate another milestone in our lives! To those who were unable to be here please know that each of you were missed and we hope this booklet will at least remind you of your
classmates in this celebration year.
Thank you to all the persons who worked on plans for this special reunion and contributed in so many ways since March 2010 when we began to organize :
Shirley (Dahl) Braasch Jay Lindgren
Ed Feiker Rita (Davis) Lyell
Judi (Rauner) Grover Marie (Bergh) Sandbo
Tom Hansing Sue (Tingerthal) Shull
Mark Johnson Rick Stone
Marilyn (Herbert) Kloncz
An extra big Thank you and shout out goes to Terry Kepp who went to extraordinary lengths to provide us with the centerpieces on each table of 750 liter Maple Syrup (tapped &prepared by Terry!) He also donated the individual small bottles of syrup for us along with the labels which we’ve used on the invitations, name tags and on the syrup bottles. Unfortunately, in the end he was unable to attend because his son is being married today in Northern Minnesota.
Thank you to Marilyn (Herbert) Kloncz who generously donated the table and room decorations and creatively combined the maple syrup bottles, 50th (gold) Reunion theme and of course our dear old red and blue into a festive ambiance for our special celebration!
Our Class President, Mark Johnson, has entertained us with his side-kick Rusty, for old time’s sake and
reminded us of collective memories! We all appreciate his time and talent to bring us together in laughter and common bond of our youth. Thanks to Mark for all his energy!
Thanks to Jay Lindgren for coordinating the music and necessary equipment for the program, Sue (Tingerthal) Shull for Sunday’s Picnic planning, photographer and all around event planning.
Rita (Davis) Lyell for faithfully and accurately keeping track of all our registrations, checks and numerous responses that needed recording!!
Thankfully Rick Stone was able to maintain our mplschs.org, class of 1961 website from Texas and Shirley (Dahl) Braasch. Judi (Rauner) Grover, Ed Feiker and Tom Hansing faithfully met and filled in with decorations, mailings, Gift Donations etc.
As keeper of the Class List on my home computer since the early 90’s, and having been active in the printing and mailing industry, it is somewhat by default that I wield the keyboard and print the booklet, invitations, nametags etc.
Respectfully submitted, Marie (Bergh) Sandbo
We all appreciate all the generosity of time, talent and treasure that helped to make this reunion a success!
