Bob Johnson |
||
Our classmate, Bob Johnson, passed away on Tuesday, February 10th (10 Feb 2009) in California where he had lived for 48 years. Bob battled MS for 40 years, never letting it get the best of his interest in life. He kept up with current news events, writing political letters and campaigning from his bed for Obama. He enjoyed books on tape, history and Hemingway. He wrote song lyrics. Some were political. "Easy Po' Easy" was inspired by TV coverage of Katrina. "Dead Eye Dick" is a 'tribute' to Dick Cheney. "Jackass Kiss" is a reflection on moonshine as far as I can figure out. Some are romantic ballads. Shortly before the reunion he sent a CD of "Love's Journey" done in collaboration with a musician. It's absolutely lovely.
He closed the accompanying note with "Have a good time at the 50th reunion". Bob's sister Carol, his good friend Jim Hanneman, and his wife, Claudia will be holding a memorial celebration on Sunday, March 8th from 2-5 at their house in Manhattan Beach, CA. Memorials will be donated to MS Research. Cards and memorials can be sent to; Claudia Johnson 707 Anderson Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 |
