DennisGoodmansonDennis M. Goodmanson, age 77, of New Prague, formerly of Park Rapids and Burnsville, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous 21-year struggle with early-onset dementia on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Dennis was born on May 15, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN to Duane E. and Verlyn E. (Topel) Goodmanson. He attended Minneapolis Public Schools, graduating from Central High School, and finishing his education at Dunwoody College of Technology. Dennis married Jeannette “Jeani” Zmuda on August 25, 1956 in Minneapolis. He started his career as a baker at Emericks Bakery in Minneapolis. The couple spent most of their lives raising their family of six children in the Minneapolis area with a 2-year jaunt in California from 1972-74. After retirement in 1997, they moved to their cabin in Park Rapids and wintered in Florida. Dennis served on the board of Bethany Academy for many years, including a term as board chairman. He was an avid athlete who could play any sport. He enjoyed playing catch with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren even into his final year. He loved fishing, biking, and golf. His love for adventure and waterskiing always made him insure that he was the last one to ski before the boat was put away for the winter.
